Business Headshots in Portland Oregon: Nicole

Nicole is a social media professional who lives near Salt Lake City; I met her for the first time at New Media Expo in Las Vegas. A trip to Portland, Oregon brought her near me and presented the opportunity to make some new professional photos for her online presence and media kit.

Nicole had a gastric bypass surgery about a year ago and has lost quite a bit of weight since that time. She was excited to have some new photos that show off her updated look.

Amye – Portland Portraits

I’ve recently seen an uptick in portrait photography around Portland, and I enjoyed my opportunity to photograph my friend Amye. Our portrait session involved a few poses and lighting styles as I worked with both some tried-and-true techniques as well as a few experimental ones.

Startup Business Portrait: VendScreen’s Paresh Patel

During the inaugural class of Portland Incubator Experiment startups, I had the opportunity to create photographs of quite a few people that founded and build startup businesses around a variety of ideas, technologies, and in the case of VendScreen, high-tech devices that can revolutionize the vending machine industry.

Early in the PIE process, I created this portrait of VendScreen CEO Paresh Patel with a sample device. I was pleased to find out this week that VendScreen will be receiving several awards at an industry trade show this month (more first-place awards than ny other vendor). Well done, VendScreen!

Andrew Nacin Portrait at WordCamp Seattle: 2011 in Five.

I’ll be sharing five memorable images from 2011 this week. It was challenging to narrow the year down to five images since there are so many more memories and stories that didn’t make the cut. That said, let’s get started; I’ll be presenting the images in the order they were made.

Photo of WordPress core developer Andrew Nacin

As a photographer involved with the community surrounding the WordPress blogging software, I attend a few events each year to share my blog knowledge with others, pick up some new tips for myself, and interact with the community. At WordCamp Seattle in April, I made photos of a bunch of folks including WordPress core developer Andrew Nacin. It was great to meet him in real life after having only previously interacted online and I enjoyed creating photos of the various attendees including Nacin.

Always Learning Photography: Refining My Skills

One thing that’s a common trait amongst professionals is that they will always be seeking ways to further their education in their field. Earlier this week I attended a seminar by master photographer Clay Blackmore. Topics included portraiture, posing, and lighting. I came away with some new tips to refine my technique and create even stronger images for my clients.

I hope that regardless of your area of expertise that you’re always striving for improvement. I enjoy learning new things and honing my skills so that I can continue to produce great photography of people, events, and businesses in the Portland Vancouver area.
