My office for my day job is across the street from a Burger King. It’s not the healthiest of options, but I’ll eat there occasionally. Last week I noticed this new sign on the door:
As a private business, Burger King is certainly welcome to set their own policies. But I have to wonder… are they that uptight about lawsuits that they’re going to prohibit photography in a fast food restaurant. I doubt I would’ve been taking many gallery-worthy photos at my local BK, but their policy turns me off as a photographer and as a customer. I’d urge other photographers to choose alternate fast food instead of support a company that won’t allow photography.

6 Jul 2008Well there are so many other reasons to be turned off by BK other than this. I can see your point though. I can only imagine they’re going to have a tough time controlling the flow of photo captured on cell phones. Those with dSLRs are not as likely to set up shop inside though. I wonder what is behind the policy announcement.

1 Sep 2009The sign has more meaning than a photographer can see…. policies are set in many buisiness’s to keep out the threat of corporate espionage… Stealing secrets is still big in the business world….I do respect the policies of local and big business and do not take someone saying no to me as a photographer as an insult…. Who wants to take pictures of a hamburger joint inside anyways???
