Holiday Season 2010 for the Hobbyist Photographer

At ZooLights at the Oregon Zoo

Although I obviously recommend hiring a professional photographer for many situations, photography is a great hobby that’s enjoyed by millions of people. As we approach the Christmas season I have a couple things in store that I’d like to share with anyone interested in photography:

  • I’m preparing a Gift Guide for Photographers that should be published next Monday. I’m going to highlight photo-related gifts for all price ranges. That post will go up on Picture Pundit where I chat about photography and I’ll also post a quick note here once it’s online.
  • For those in the Portland area, I plan to offer a workshop or two in the January/February timeframe covering photography basics. I’m sure that plenty of folks will be getting new cameras and we’ll talk about the basics of exposure, composition, lighting, and an introduction to digital post-processing. I’ll post about the workshop here once I have the details, but the best way to get the info is to subscribe to my photo newsletter.

Need a family photo for your Christmas cards? We’ve still got a bit of time to schedule something but the time is moving quickly. Contact me if you need a Christmas portrait.
