Food Bank and Outdoor Cleanup: Portland Event Photos

As I catch up on sharing some work from the past year, once again I photographed Comcast Cares Day for the local area, creating some Portland event photos that are representative of corporate event work.

This year I was assigned to cover three sites, and as always the common theme was employees from the organization giving back to the community through a variety of community service projects. I’ll share a few photos from a couple of the locations.

My first location was the Oregon Food Bank, where after an orientation and group photo, the volunteers packaged various produce into smaller bags to be distributed to families in need. There was a lot of food to be packaged for redistribution, but as you can see from the group photo there were plenty of hands available to do the work. In addition to the Comcast employees and volunteers, there was another partner agency helping out as well.

The other location shared here is from the Native American Youth and Family Center in Northeast Portland. This organization provides a variety of services for the Native community, and the work here was both indoor and outdoor to improve the grounds and prepare materials.

Outside, there was a lot of physical labor including spreading bark and gravel. Other efforts included installation of two new benches near the garden area.

As examples of Portland event photos, these images are typical for how I will cover such an event in a photojournalistic style that allows my client to use the images for social media, press releases, or future promotional use that shows the work being done by their company at events.

Your Company Photos Can Have Personality

Sure, we’ve all seen static, traditional business portraits or company photos. Heck, I’ve made a bunch of them when that’s the look the client wants.

But your business headshot, or your company group photo, doesn’t have to be dull or traditional. We can take an outdoor portrait in Portland and give it some personality based on the pose and attitude of the subject:

Sure, we could do a picture of your team standing against a blank wall. If you’re a traditional bank, that’s probably appropriate. But if your organization is one where we can display a bit more personality, we could make a Portland company photo up on your rooftop and let folks have some fun.

Scholarship Basketball Tournament Photography: Elks Hoop Shoot

A couple months back, I had the enjoyable opportunity to do some event photography in Vancouver, Washington at Clark College. The occasion was the regional competition for the Elks Hoop Shoot, an annual nationwide tournament put on by the Elks Foundation.

The winners of the tournament advance to the national level, competing for scholarships. The photography of this event at Clark College was for purposes of marketing and promotion of the event in the future, so my client wanted me to capture a variety of images of the youth, the volunteers, and the audience.

Photographing an event in my hometown of Vancouver was fun, and it was great to see all the enthusiasm in the competitors.

Fraud Force: Event Photography at The Nines

Late last year, I was contacted by another local photographer to assist him in covering an industry conference and trade show in Portland. He photogaphed some of the events while I was the photographer for other portions of the multi-day conference.

The event photography at The Nines included conference keynote speakers on stage, with an audience of several hundred folks learning about industry trends, topics, and case studies.

In the evenings after things wound down at the formal conference, a variety of Portland nighttime destinations allowed folks to kick back, have some fun, and build relationships. I photographed at Punch Bowl Social and Oba for evening event photos.

Are You Ready for Some Football… Tailgate Photos?

It’s March, so how about some football-related photos?

Last fall I had the opportunity to do some Corvallis event photography at the Sports Illustrated Go RVing Tailgate Tour as it made its stop at Reser Stadium before a football matchup between the Oregon State Beavers and Colorado Buffaloes.

The weather was quite wet but it as a fun event, with a variety of games and activities including corn hole games.

Former Oregon State Beaver and NFL player T.J. Houshmandzadeh was on hand for an interview and autograph session.

The OSU Beavers were playing the Colorado Buffaloes, and a chef from a restaurant in the Buffaloes’ hometown was on hand offering up one of his creations.

Despite the weather, all were in good spirits as guests were able to play games, check out some sweet RVs, win prizes, and more.
