Hi there, I’m Aaron Hockley. I use photography to tell stories and share imagery of the world. I love working with businesses and organizations to provide top-notch photographs that can empower them to share their story and reach further towards their goals.
Having been in the professional photography field since 2008, I’m based in Vancouver, Washington (just outside Portland Oregon), and I work with a common theme of helping businesses and organizations tell their story. That story might come at an event, or with their people, or through their products.
My clients include high-tech conferences, theater-style speaking events, startup events, fundraising parties, medical and legal offices, a multi-billion dollar communications company, national media organizations, and a variety of individuals.
Each client is unique and I bring my technical and artistic skills to your situation.
I’ve been recognized for my work, most notably:
- 2018 Commercial/Illustrative Division Winner – Oregon Professional Photographers Association
- 2015 Commercial Photography Finalist – World Photographic Cup representing the United States
- 2015 3rd Place Commercial/Illustrative Image – Professional Photographers of America Grand Imaging Awards
I have earned my Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees (M.Photog.Cr.) from the Professional Photographers of America. I’ve also been awarded the PPA National Award for service to photographers.

In addition to specific work for clients, I also license my work for other purposes.
I’m a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and adhere to their code of ethics. I believe in professionalism while working with others – but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to have fun. I was the 2017 President of the Oregon Professional Photographers Association, a state PPA Affiliate that provides professional development for serious photographers, and I remain active in the group. In August 2020, the Board of Directors unanimously voted to appoint me as interim President to lead the group for the remainder of the year following some leadership turmoil and the resignation of the previous President.
When not creating images for clients, I write, speak, and consult with other photographers about helping them grow their businesses with a focus on the intersection of photography and technology. You’ll find more about those ventures over at TechPhotoGuy.com. In 2021 I released my first book The Computer Ate My Photos – a look at artificial intelligence and photography.
